Résidence du Lac Memphrémagog
Co-Creation: JS Bourdages Architecture & MU Architecture
Located on the shores of the majestic Lake Memphremagog, this private residence was designed for clients deeply inspired by the atmosphere of BALNEA. They commissioned Jean-Sébastien Bourdages, co-founder of BE_MONDO, to envision a home that embodies the harmony between architecture, nature, and well-being.
Echoing the gesture of a great protective wing, the architectural roof of this residence unfolds with elegance, shaped by the program’s volume. It stretches and bends like a sail caught in the rhythm of the wind.
From this angle, the project reveals its full spatial composition—where horizontal extension meets vertical modulation. The interplay of glass, wood, and concrete establishes a clear material hierarchy: concrete grounds the form, cedar softens and warms it, and glass opens it to the forest and sky.
Beneath the terrace, a rhythm of garden-level entries unfolds—each recessed and sheltered by the extended roofline above. These thresholds offer quiet access to bedrooms and lounge areas, inviting nature in while protecting from the elements. Framed by stone and softened by shadow, the lower level feels both grounded and gently open to its surroundings.
This linear terrace becomes the connective spine of the residence—linking the master quarters to shared outdoor spaces and the pool zone in one continuous gesture. Projected 14 feet beyond the glazed façade, it shades the garden-level entries below while offering covered access to each bedroom and lounge. More than an outdoor extension, it’s a climatic buffer—softening sun, shielding from rain, and framing the dwelling’s seamless dialogue with nature.
